Originally crafted to celebrate Taylor’s 50th anniversary, the Legacy 514ce honors the iconic Grand Auditorium body shape—a groundbreaking Bob Taylor innovation that has shaped the modern acoustic guitar since its introduction in 1994. This special-edition model features a distinctive tonewood combination not found in Taylor's standard lineup: a Western Red cedar top paired with mahogany back and sides.
Cedar brings warmth and a soft, responsive touch, while mahogany adds a focused midrange and a dry, woody tonal character. Together, they create a dynamic voice ideal for fingerstyle players and light strummers seeking nuance and clarity. The guitar is voiced with Bob Taylor’s original X-bracing design, used in the first Grand Auditorium models, enhancing its vintage character while maintaining the refined sound projection Taylor is known for.
Playability remains a cornerstone, thanks to Taylor’s signature slim neck profile, offering comfort and speed across all playing styles. Aesthetic touches are both elegant and understated, reflecting Bob’s design sensibilities: faux tortoiseshell binding and pickguard, white-and-black top purfling, Small Diamond mother-of-pearl fretboard inlays, and a green abalone rosette with matching abalone-dotted ebony bridge pins.
